COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING

The Committee of the Whole Meeting of the City Council of Lincoln was called to order by Acting Mayor Tracy Welch at 7:00 p.m., with proper notice given. City Clerk Peggy Bateman called roll.

Public Participation:

There was no one present for public participation. 

Acting Mayor Welch moved on to other items on the agenda. 

Morgan Gleason, Logan County Tourism Bureau 2021 - 1st Quarter Report

Morgan was present via Zoom. 

Financial:

Tourism has taken in $25,000 for the first quarter.  That is 32% down from the first quarter last year.  $18,000 was received in a grant from the State.  They can start to use grant money towards advertising. 

Morgan provided a printed report for the financials to the Council.

The Mill:

Grand Opening is scheduled for May 22nd.  Restorations on the Mill are coming right along.  Tourism is requesting the use of 10 City picnic tables for the grand opening.

Announcements:

  • Request to permit for road closure: 100 block of S. Kickapoo for the use of the LCHS Grand March on May 1, 2021 4:30-5:45pm. The Council agreed to approve the permit. This item will be placed on the next consent agenda. 
  • Request to permit for road closure: Kickapoo St, from Pulaski to Broadway, for the use of a Cars & Coffee event with the Railsplitter Car Club. Dates will be May 22nd, June 26th, July 24th, and Sept 25th. The hours will be from 8am-10am.  This item will be placed on the consent agenda. 
  • City Cleanup totals: In 2019 there was 34.25 tons collected, this year there was 56.3 tons collected. 10 trucks filled, 2 – 30yard dumpsters, 15 Area employees and 5 City employees participated. The number of vehicles through was 364, that number does not include multiple trips with the same vehicle. 
  • Spring Cleanup: 200 bags of garbage was filled.
  • Veterans Activities: Groundbreaking took place for the new Veteran’s homes.
  • Pickers Market took place last weekend.
  • Census update: US population increased by 22 million people in the last 10 years, 7.4% increase. Total population is 334,449,281.

Acting Mayor Welch presented Alderman Keller and Alderman Hoinacki with a plaque in appreciation for their dedication for the City of Lincoln.

There being no further discussion to come before the City Council of Lincoln, Alderman Keller motioned to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Hoinacki. All were in favor. Acting Mayor Welch adjourned the meeting at 8:18 p.m.
