Some records are, however, not subject to release via the FOIA process. These types of records are described under 5 ILCS 140, Sections 2.15, 7, and 7.5. Some records may also be subject to provisions imposed by other state statutes. The FOIA process for disclosure of information does not supersede other applicable statutory and judicial mandates.
Please note that the Lincoln Police Department will redact private information from reports at per Illinois State Statue:
"Private information" means unique identifiers, including a person's social security number, driver's license number, employee identification number, biometric identifiers, personal financial information, passwords or other access codes, medical records, home or personal telephone numbers, and personal email addresses. Private information also includes home address and personal license plates, except as otherwise provided by law or when compiled without possibility of attribution to any person.
Crash Reports: The Lincoln Police Department does not store accident/crash information. We use a commercial program, Appriss, that we submit the information to and they in turn handle requests for crash reports and submit the information to the State of Illinois. If you need an accident/crash report please direct your request to Buycrash.com. Please note there is a charge for full reports, however the "Driver's Information Exchange" is free to those involved in the accident.
