Fifth Street Road Project

The City of Lincoln, State of Illinois, and County of Logan have partnered to redevelop Fifth Street Road west of Lincoln Parkway (Old Route 66) to the Interstate overpass. Not only will this improve the roadway itself, but was to correct water drainage along the roadway itself from neighboring developments.

The Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation has partnered with the Lincoln Police Department to offer area residents a Drug Take Back Program, at the Lincoln Police Department Headquarters, 710 5th Street.

Residents of Lincoln can bring their unused or expired medication to the police station during normal business hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM) to be dropped off.

When over-the-counter or prescription medications are expired or no longer needed, they should be removed from the home. Many people believe that the best way to dispose of unused or expired medications is to flush them down the toilet. However, this pollutes our waterways and adversely affects wildlife and plant life along our streams and rivers.

The Drug Take Back program gives residents a safe way to dispose of these types of medications. Simply gather up your unused, unwanted and expired medications and bring them to the Lincoln Police Headquarters .

Some of the items that can be collected include prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, or pet medications. It is preferred that residents remove the medication from the prescription bottles and empty them all into a plastic bag for their own privacy and for the safety of police officers during the incineration process.  Below is a list of items that can and cannot be accepted:
