Fifth Street Road Project

The City of Lincoln, State of Illinois, and County of Logan have partnered to redevelop Fifth Street Road west of Lincoln Parkway (Old Route 66) to the Interstate overpass. Not only will this improve the roadway itself, but was to correct water drainage along the roadway itself from neighboring developments.

UPDATE 5/15: Letter from Mayor-City of Lincoln

UPDATE 3/31: The Landscape Waste Facility will reopen tomorrow, Wednesday, April 1, 2020. The hours will be 8am-3:50pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

We ask that everyone follow the social distancing guidelines, set in place by Governor Pritzker, while disposing of their landscape waste and that no one go beyond the barricades set in place for the attendant’s safety. The attendant will record name and license plates number.

UPDATE 3/27: The City of Lincoln is aware of the concern COVID-19 presents. The City of Lincoln takes the emergency declaration issued by the Governor concerning the virus seriously with the stay away order in place and desires to limit exposure. Therefore the upcoming Committee of the Whole scheduled for Tuesday, March, 31, 2020 has been canceled. The next meeting will be a Public Hearing on Monday, April 6, 2020 at 7:00 pm followed immediately by the Regular City Council Meeting.

UPDATE 3/25: Lincoln Landscaped Waste Facility on Broadwell Dr is currently closed until further notice.

UPDATE 3/16: City Hall is now closed to foot traffic, you may utilize phone at 217-735-2815 or 217-732-2144. City Council will have their meeting tonight at 7:00 PM. Although we are not restricting attendance we are strongly discouraging attendance if necessary. You may watch the broadcast on Channel 5 Comcast or our YouTube channel.

In regards to sewer payments:

Form of payment can be dropped in one of the two drop boxes in front of city hall or in parking lot across from the park on Kickapoo street. Payments can be made in the form of check, money order or cashier’s check.

Please utilize any drop off boxes, US Mail, or telephone for general business and limit public appearance as a last resort as we are following the IDPH and CDC mitigation strategy at this time.

Urban Coyote Presence

In the recent months there have been concerns raised with the sporadic sightings of coyotes within the city limits. Contacts have been made with the USDA Wildlife Services as well as the State of Illinois DNR for consultation and direction. The sightings have been categorized as just that, “sightings” or “observations”.

The caller says there is a problem with your Social Security number or account. Scammers may threaten you to provide personal information and may demand immediate payment to avoid arrest or other legal action. Never give out your personal information such as your bank account or send payment in any form, such as retail gift cards, cash, wire transfers, or pre-paid debit cards. Social Security employees will never threaten you for information or money, or demand an immediate payment.

If you receive a call like this, hang up! Report details of the call to our Office of the Inspector General at oig.ssa.gov. Share this information with your friends and family.

Military Tribute Banner Program

Any soldier active, living, or deceased is eligible for placement on a banner through the Lincoln Hometown Heroes Program put on by Lincoln Rotary. Each individual banner will be unique and will honor the soldier. The banner will include the soldier's photo, branch of service, and era of service. Lincoln Hometown Heroes Program will be taking orders over the next few months, but the banners will be on a first come first serve basis. This project is non-political and non-partisan. This is a living memorial to those soldiers who served or are serving our country. The cost of the banner will be $50 which includes the banner, attachment hardware, and installation.

Electrical Aggregation Bids

March 23, 2018- Stone River Group received 4 bids, including one that was the lowest in the State.

Aldermen Hoefle and Welch will bring Stone River's bids to Mayor Seth Goodman, who executes an agreement that will save the on average, $123.49 per year, per household.

One can calculate their savings by taking their electric bill and the number of kWH. If you use 800kWH (considered about the average per household) and multiply by 0.01245, you show a savings of 9.96 or an annual savings of $119.52. The actual average household was a bit higher.

The program is optional. No one has to agree to use this program.

It is an "opt out" program that will automatically be on your bill, unless you exercise your choice not to use it and go with Ameren or any other program you may be using.
